Q. What's the life expectancy of a rabbit?

A. Depending on how well you care for them, rabbits can live anywhere between 5 to 10 years old.  However, I know a couple who have a rabbit going on 12 years.

Q. Can rabbits be litter trained?

A. Yes, easily. Check out my page on litter training for tips.

Q. My rabbits always hump each other! Is this bad behaviour?

A. In short, no. Neutered male and female rabbits hump each other as a way to show who is more dominant than the other. Once they have established who is the dominant one, the humping usually stops.

Bunnies who are not neutered will be humping in order to pass on their genes and produce a litter.  If you don't want baby bunnies, please neuter your bunnies!

Q. My rabbit chews on everything, how do I make her stop?

A. Rabbits need to chew to keep their teeth filed down. It's a natural behaviour. Give your rabbit more untreated wood chews as toys and plenty of DIY rabbit safe toys to chew on. You can bunny proof your home by covering electrical cords and spraying vinegar on items they fancy. Rabbits hate the smell and taste of vinegar and this will stop them from going to town on your household items.

Q. My rabbit is not acting themselves. What should I do?

A. Is your bunny still eating and drinking, and using their toilet? If Yes, do not panic, keep a watchful eye on your bunny and if they begin to stop eating, drinking or going to the toilet they will need URGENT vet attention. If in doubt - call your vet!
